Part 1: The Unspoken Truth Of Lost In Love

Chapter 1: A Beginning Full of Hope Of Lost in love

It was a calm morning in Ooty. Aanya stood by the window of her hostel room, looking at the misty hills outside. Ooty always made her feel peaceful, but today, she didn’t feel peaceful at all.

For the past week, Aanya had been avoiding Shaan. The guy who used to make her laugh without even trying. The guy she thought was the one. Now, she couldn’t even look at him without feeling a distance between them.

They had always been good friends. Friends who stayed up late talking about everything—homework, dreams, and silly jokes. Aanya had known Shaan for almost two years, and over time, she started liking him more than just a friend.

It all started when Shaan began being extra nice to her. He would check on her when she was upset, make her laugh even when she didn’t want to, and do little things that made her heart race. That’s when she realized—she liked him. A lot.

But she couldn’t tell him. What if he didn’t feel the same? What if it ruined their friendship?

So, she kept quiet. Until the day she couldn’t keep it in anymore. She was standing in front of Shaan, her heart racing, and she said, “Shaan… I think I like you.”

Shaan looked at her, paused for a moment, then smiled. But it wasn’t the smile she wanted to see. It wasn’t the smile that said, “I like you too.”

Instead, he said, “Aanya, we’re friends. That’s all we’ll ever be.”

Those words hurt more than anything. She felt like her world was falling apart. He didn’t feel the same. He never would.

Since then, things between them had been awkward. Aanya tried to act normal, but she couldn’t stop feeling rejected. Every time they saw each other, every time their paths crossed, the silence between them grew louder.

Chapter 2: Pretending to Be Okay Of Lost in love

It was another quiet day at college. Aanya walked into the cafeteria, greeted her friends—Sara, Mysha, and Meera—and sat at her usual spot. She tried not to think about Shaan, but it was hard. Every time he passed by, her heart skipped a beat.

But today, he didn’t even look at her. He was sitting with the guys from his department, laughing and talking like everything was fine. Like she wasn’t sitting there, feeling invisible.

That’s when Aanya realized: Maybe Shaan had already forgotten what happened. Maybe it didn’t matter to him. But to her, it felt like the end of everything.

“What’s wrong with you?” Meera asked suddenly. “You’re not yourself today.”

Aanya smiled weakly. “I’m just tired. You know how it is.”

Sara, always the cheerful one, noticed how quiet Aanya was. “Don’t lie, Aanya. You’re not just tired. Something’s off. Did something happen with Shaan?”

Aanya froze. She didn’t want to talk about it. Not with anyone. Not now.

“No, it’s nothing. Just… just college stuff,” Aanya replied, her voice low.

Mysha raised an eyebrow. “We know you better than that. If you don’t tell us, we’ll find out anyway.”

Aanya let out a small laugh. “I’m fine. Really.”

But inside, she wasn’t fine. She was far from fine.

Chapter 3: The Fight Within Of Lost in love

The next day, Aanya was staring at her phone, thinking about texting Shaan. She needed to know where they stood. She needed answers.

But as her fingers hovered over the screen, she hesitated. What if he didn’t care? What if it made things worse?

Just then, her phone buzzed. It was a message from Mysha.

Mysha: “Come to the café after class. We need to talk.”

Aanya sighed. She knew Mysha was probably going to ask about Shaan. She didn’t want to talk about it, but she knew she couldn’t avoid it anymore.

That afternoon, she met Mysha at the café. “Are you okay?” Mysha asked, looking worried.

Aanya nodded, forcing a smile. “Yeah, I’m fine. Just tired.”

“Stop lying,” Mysha said, rolling her eyes. “I know something’s wrong. You’re acting like you’ve lost a battle.”

Aanya sighed. She couldn’t keep it in anymore. “It’s Shaan, Mysha. I told him I liked him, and he… he didn’t feel the same. He said we’re just friends.”

Mysha looked shocked. “Wait, what? That’s what happened? I thought you two were close.”

“We were,” Aanya said, voice shaky. “But I guess not anymore.”

There was a long pause. Then Mysha spoke seriously. “Look, Aanya. I know this hurts. But you can’t punish yourself for something you didn’t do. You told him how you felt. That’s all you could do.”

“But he doesn’t care, Mysha. He never will. I’ll just have to move on.”

“Maybe you should,” Mysha said, “but do it for you, not because of what Shaan said. Don’t let this one thing ruin everything for you.”

Aanya took a deep breath. Maybe Mysha was right. She couldn’t keep hiding. She had to let go.

But there was still one thing she needed to know: What did Shaan really think about her?

Chapter 4: An Unexpected Reunion Of Lost in love

A few days passed, and Aanya continued avoiding Shaan. Every time they crossed paths, she looked away quickly.

Then, one evening, as Aanya was walking back to her hostel, she saw Shaan sitting alone on the steps of the library. His head was down, and he looked lost in thought.

Aanya paused. Should she talk to him? Should she say something?

Before she could decide, Shaan looked up and saw her. “Aanya,” he said softly.

Aanya froze. She didn’t know what to say. She didn’t know what he wanted. But he spoke again, breaking the silence.

“I’ve been meaning to talk to you,” Shaan said. “About everything.”

Aanya’s heart raced. She needed answers.

Chapter 5: The Truth Comes Out Of Lost in love

The next few days felt like forever. Every time Aanya saw Shaan, the silence between them felt louder. She tried to act normal, but it was too hard. She needed to know where they stood. She couldn’t keep avoiding him.

One evening, she was walking near the library again. The sky was turning purple and orange. She wasn’t expecting to see Shaan, but there he was, sitting on the steps, deep in thought. She hesitated, but then she walked over to him.

Shaan looked up when he saw her. “Aanya,” he said softly.

“Can we talk?” she asked, her voice shaking a little.

Shaan nodded. “Of course. Let’s walk.”

They walked side by side, and the silence between them felt heavy. After a while, Shaan spoke.

“I know things have been weird,” he said. “I don’t know why you’ve been avoiding me.”

Aanya stopped walking and looked at him. “I don’t know where we stand anymore, Shaan,” she said, her voice quiet. “I didn’t want to make things worse.”

Shaan looked down, then sighed. “Aanya, I care about you. I always have. But when you told me how you felt, I—I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t want to risk our friendship.”

Aanya’s heart skipped. “But you never told me that. All I heard was rejection.”

Shaan stopped and faced her. “It wasn’t that. I never thought you’d feel that way about me. I thought if I said anything, it would ruin everything.”

Aanya stared at him, her mind racing. “So, you liked me too?” she asked quietly.

Shaan nodded. “I did. I just didn’t know how to handle it.”

They stood there in silence, the weight of their words settling between them. For the first time in weeks, Aanya felt something change. Things weren’t the same as before, but at least they were being honest now.

Aanya took a deep breath. “I don’t know what happens next, Shaan. I don’t know if we can go back to being the way we were. But I’m glad we’re talking. I needed to know how you felt.”

Shaan smiled, a small but genuine smile. “Me too.”

The silence between them wasn’t heavy anymore. It was full of understanding.

Chapter 6: Moving Forward Of Lost in love

The next morning, Aanya woke up with a light heart. Talking to Shaan, hearing the truth, made everything clearer. It wasn’t perfect, but it was enough. They were still friends, but things felt different now.

Over the next few days, Aanya and Shaan started rebuilding their friendship. It wasn’t easy. There was still some awkwardness, but they were both trying. Shaan was being more open, and Aanya was learning to trust him again.

Her friends, Sara, Mysha, and Meera, were always there for her. They reminded her that she was strong and that sometimes things didn’t work out the way she wanted, but that didn’t mean she should give up.

One evening, after class, Aanya sat with her friends on the campus lawn. Shaan sat a little away from them, but it felt peaceful. For the first time in a long time, Aanya felt like everything would be okay.

“I’m glad we’re all here,” Mysha said, breaking the silence. “Aanya, I think you’ve learned something important.”

Aanya looked up. “What’s that?”

“You’ve learned that it’s okay to let people in,” Mysha said with a smile. “You’ve learned that it’s okay to be vulnerable
